I was listening to a Jason Upton song the other day that included the lyrics, “there’s a power in poverty that breaks principalities, that brings the authorities down to their knees”. Ironically I found myself in Paslm 34 this morning and verse 17 in the Message reads this way, “Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue. If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there.” I absolutely believe the truth of both those statements. Continue reading ‘Brokeness’

How many of you have ever opened a door to encounter a sight or situation that so stunned you it made your blood boil? Continue reading ‘Dynamite In The Doorway’
Some like em broken, others baked over easy, but what if we’re not talking about eggs?
There was another kind of yoke that was used to couple beasts to a burden.
Yokes were never meant for men, yet millions find themselves coupled to burdens and find themselves unable to disconnect and roam free. Isa 10:27 says this, “It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” NKJV
My question is this…what are the yokes? What are men bound to that this “annointing oil” will destroy? Let’s hear them, as general or specific as you think.
Have you ever felt like the times you need to hear from God the most, is when you have the most difficult time connecting with Him? I was meditating on the story of prophet/priest child Samuel this week Continue reading ‘Visionary Men’
I received a coupon in the mail for 3% off a small anchovy and onion pizza to be used on the 2nd Thursday of the fourth lunar moon between 3:45 and 4:00 AM addressed to me or CURRENT RESIDENT. Gee…Thanks. Continue reading ‘Meditations of Gratitude’
I recently read an older book by Robert S McGee titled Searching for Significance. Between the covers he made this statement: “ Whether labeled self-esteem or self-worth, the feeling of significance is crucial to man’s emotional, spiritual, and social stability and is the driving element within the human spirit. Understanding this single need opens the door to understanding our actions and attitudes.” Continue reading ‘Searching for Significance’
Ever broke a bone before that required a cast? When you take the plaster or fiberglass off after weeks of disciplined recuperation, there is a certain amount of atrophy that has taken place and the skin is tender and pale. It’s takes a bit to get everything operating right, but in the meantime you can enjoy reminiscing all the signatures and notes on that brace that you became all too comfortable with.
I’m back…please have grace as I get up to speed, but certainly enjoy the signatures and notes from so many great people that have impacted my life over the past 4 months as I write.
Please forgive the 90 day fast I am taking from electronic media. We are reformatting tons of ministry right now but will be rolling again in a few weeks.
What would 4th of July be without a parade? Every town big or small has one, and they are the best place to score some candy and people watch!
This year we hung out at the Grandville City parade and they had some great new attractions this year. As the local Harley Davidson dealer with about 30 of their constituents rode through, there was a faithful husband and wife evangelistic team working the sidelines with the ever effective “ALL SINNERS WILL BE DESTROYED” pole sign complete with scripture reference of Psalms 94:23. Just in case some deemed that too harsh, they tattooed the other side with the hope message of “REPENT AND LIVE”.
In an attempt to be sure everyone had a spiritual option, this years parade also included a float from the local witches association flanked by none other than stereotypical black dressed, green faced maidens with pointed hats and all! How much fun if we could have set up a cage match between the two polar opponents at the end of the route?
All kidding aside, it’s been a great day off and shortly we will head over to an awesome party with a pig roast and a bocce tournament that I hopefully will dominate!
