I got a velvet hammer nudge from one of my leaders this weekend reminding me to keep up on answering the secret questions so here I am!
I would like to reiterate that the goal of Secret Questions is to answer questions that are first and foremost male issue specific. Life controlling issues, marriage, marketplace or whatever, just try keep them male specific. I received a lot of general theological questions that are great, but not our focus here. I will pass them along to Pastor Duane to address in messages as he teaches.
Is it possible to be cheating just using email?
I guess it would depend who you are emailing and what the content of the email is. By the nature of your question, I would say you are already convicted of the answer.
Jesus was always quick to sidestep the action and address the heart condition behind it. Matt 5 says that even looks can lead to a giving away of your heart to another person so I certainly believe conversation whether spoken or typed does the same. When we marry, we are asking Father to knit our heart to our spouses… for life. Any area that we proceed to give our heart to from that point, lessens the amount that we have left for that original union. That’s why God wants our whole heart. He’s part of the union, if He’s got it, the proportion will always be right.
Personally I believe if you are married, you have no business sending conversational emails to a person of the opposite sex. If you are, stop it. Prov 6:27 says “Can a man take fire to his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?” You are just asking for trouble. Start corresponding secretly with your bride via email. You may be surprised the difference it makes at home.
One of the best determiners is still this: print the emails and leave them on your wife’s pillow tonight, if she thinks it’s ok, you are golden.
How can things that feel so right, be so wrong at the same time?
Sin nature man…Sin nature, but some of the things done in the right context probably wouldn’t be wrong anymore. An age old question that everyone from Alabama to Janet Jackson have tried to tackle~
A great teacher once said, “a man is only sick as his secrets”. I want to thank and encourage all of you that took the time to send in your secret questions in the past weeks. Yesterday morning was an awesome format that allowed men to step out and ask things they wouldn’t have done publicly and receive Biblical and experiential truth to equip themselves to make good decisions for themselves and their families!
If you were unable to attend this week’s reload, feel free to check out the conversations on our media page. I will be doing my best to post the answers to the questions we didn’t have time to cover over the next several days so stay tuned!
