The Gift of Receiving

EBay Winners Tell Struggling Atlanta Family:  Take the $20G, Keep Your Stuff

I love to read stories of people that are moved by compassion to help others.  Over the years I have been on the giving and the receiving end of these transactions and I can honestly say it is more blessed to give than to receive.  However I found that until I was forced to be a recipient, I really didn’t grasp the fullness of generosity.  Continue reading ‘The Gift of Receiving’

Turn the Page

WASHINGTON (CNN) — “President Barack Obama promised to tap the virtues and resiliency of Americans as his administration ushers in an era of accountability and improved dialogue with the world.”

Well let’s see if 44 is the magic number.  President Obama has done a wonderful job of casting vision and instilling hope in a recessed American people.  He has connected at a communal, technological, and inspirational level that few presidents have in the past, but as mom used to say, “the proof is in the pudding”.  Just like all of his predecessors, this President will have four years to prove himself worthy of his campaign promises.

I must admit I was extremely disappointed to hear the boos and jeers that arose from the mall when former President Bush appeared on the screens broadcasting the event.  These disrespectful cries coming from the same people that had traveled thousands of miles to witness the swearing in of the declared American dream.  I only pray that a better grace and respect will be extended to our new President at the moment of any inevitable failure he encounters over the next four years.

While I myself did not vote for our new President, I do believe it’s time to turn the page.  Our responsibility is to submit and pray that our new leadership will hear the voice of the Lord and make decisions in accordance with His will and Word.

God bless you Mr. President.

The Yoke of Rest

As oxymoronic as that sounds, it it totally true!  There is a yoke of rest and it is nothing like you can imagine.  A yoke that will cause you to walk in the unforced rhythms of grace… Continue reading ‘The Yoke of Rest’

Opened Eyes

I was watching an old Disney film called “Aladdin” with the boys this weekend.  When the key character gets trapped in a cave of wonders he discovers the secret of the Genie in the lamp and approaches the wish granting scenario with skepticism.  I love what happens next as the Genie hangs him up on the wall and states, “hang on as I illuminate the possibilities!” Continue reading ‘Opened Eyes’

Our Greatest Hour

I have been meditating on Acts 26 all this week, the apostle Paul’s defense before King Agrippa. What really gripped me is verse 19 where Paul exclaimed to the King, “I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven”. In the Message it reads, “What could I do King Agrippa? I couldn’t just walk away from a vision like that!”

I truly believe this can be our greatest hour. Am I dissuaded by my use of can? Not whatsoever. I merely am stating we have a choice. A choice to hear clearly from God on direction and directives. A choice not to manipulate based on building kingdoms unto man. A choice to seek first His kingdom despite what that looks like to our 5yr plan and our will. A choice to walk in integrity and trust God to vindicate. A choice to lend to the poor. A choice to make disciples…regardless of cost or repayment.

What will you do in 2009? The choice is yours…the outcome is His. Seek Him for every decision and question your motives at every turn, but at all cost act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly…it’s the only thing that survives in His presence.

Secret Questions?

Ever have that question that you always wondered about but thought it was just too crazy, embarrassing, or obscure to ask?  What if there was a way you could ask, and nobody would know it was you? Better yet you could get an honest, clear, and if desired, Biblical answer without fear of intimidation or judgement?  Many men share this dilemma…you are not alone.

NOW IS YOUR TIME TO ASK!  Here’s how it works.  You ask the questions by entering them into the Secret Questions box on any of the web pages at reslifemen.org.   Then check our calendar for the Secret question sessions at reload.  The questions will be answered then placed back online as audio for those that may ask from outside the church realm.  If you find yourself unable to wait for your answer, please tag it as urgent and I will do my best to respond weekly as a special addendum to this blog.

So let the questions begin!

A New Beginning

Well we did it!  After four months of packing and unpacking…we have reloaded!  Just like any beta product you always notice all the glitches once you are up and running.  It reminds me of another beta-new beginning process.

When I first accepted Jesus as the ruler of my life, I began to see all kind of things that were not as I wanted them to be.  My media didn’t always sound right, my testimony was rough and jagged, my calender didn’t reflect all the perfect priorities at first.  Suddenly I remembered the words of 2 Cor 5:16-17; “So stop evaluating Christians by what the world thinks about them or by what they seem to be like on the outside. Once I mistakenly thought of Christ that way, merely as a human being like myself. How differently I feel now! When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!”  TLB

At 3am this morning I recalled that same scripture when I couldn’t get into this system to blog.  I really sensed the peace of God as I pondered the idea that this ministry revision began as a reloaded passion of my heart from Father so it may take a bit to polish up on the outside.  This I know…a new life has begun!

Through this ministry there will be a plate set at the table for every man in this city at this ministry, he has only to show up and eat.  Father says come…eat up.   See you at reload!
